When we recognize Jesus' lordship, everything we do becomes sacred service.
Matthew 21:1-11
Discussion Questions
- Think about a time someone sacrificed something valuable to help you. How did that impact you? What did it reveal about their priorities?
- In Matthew 21:1-3, Jesus tells his disciples to get a donkey, saying simply, “The Master needs it.” What does this reveal about Jesus’ authority? How do you respond when Jesus asks you to do something that seems unclear or uncomfortable?
- The crowd gave their most valuable possessions (cloaks) and limited resources (palm branches) to honor Jesus. What prevents us from offering our best to Jesus today? What would it look like to offer our “cloaks and branches”?
- Looking at verses 10-11, the city was “shaken” by Jesus’ arrival but had different responses. Which of the three groups in Matthew (the crowd, religious leaders, or disciples) do you most relate to in your current relationship with Jesus? Why?
